WHY IS GOING GREEN IMPORTANT?
Pollution has a lasting impact on the planet we all live on. But the pollution is one of the most solvable challenges that we face. There are many different types of pollution, like Air Pollution, Land Pollution, Water Pollution, and Plastic Pollution.
All of these things should be incredibly important to us, we need clean air to breathe, clean land to live & grown food on, and clean water to drink. While many pollutants can come from natural sources, humans are the leading cause of pollution in the world.
It’s important to leave a world that is better than we found it in order to ensure its quality for the next generations. That’s why we make our green efforts such a high priority.
WHY GOING GREEN IN NORTHERN COLORADO IS IMPORTANT TO IDEAL COMFORT HVAC
Around 43% of your home’s energy use is consumed by your HVAC system. The home improvement industry has done a great job so far by improving things like:
- Double-pane windows
- Insulation
- Energy-efficient lighting
- Energy-efficient appliances
- Programmable Thermostats
- High-efficiency heating and cooling systems
If we can make even better gains in the HVAC industry, we could greatly reduce the energy consumption of the average household.
Luckily, companies like Daikin have been working to improve the HVAC technology and Ideal Comfort HVAC is always striving to make these new, even higher efficiency models available and affordable for all consumers.
WHAT IDEAL COMFORT HVAC IS DOING TO GO GREEN
Ideal Comfort HVAC has been doing a lot of things over the years to reduce our carbon footprint and be as green as possible.
CNG NATURAL GAS VEHICLES
We’ve added CNG vehicles to our fleet. Ideal Comfort HVAC has a couple natural gas vehicles that we’ve proudly added to our fleet. These vehicles have extremely low emissions, compressed natural gas reduces carbon-monoxide emissions by 90 to 97 percent and nitrogen-oxide emissions by 35 to 60 percent.
Natural gas is also mostly domestically produced, meaning we can help reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
PROPERLY RECLAIM & RECYCLE HVAC REFRIGERANTS
If 30 percent of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) refrigerants are reclaimed for reuse by 2040, approximately 18 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent would be prevented from reaching the atmosphere.
HFCs are strong greenhouse gases when they are released into the atmosphere. Pound for pound, hydrofluorocarbons have global warming potentials hundreds to thousands of times higher than CO2.
Because HFCs are so bad for the environment if not recycled properly, we never vent hydrofluorocarbons into the atmosphere. We reclaim and recycle all refrigerants properly.
PAPERLESS OFFICE
In 2017, Colorado was one of the most wasteful states in the country. In 2018, Colorado created a record 9.3 million tons of waste, while the recycling rate was around 12%, with the national average being around 35%. On average, each Colorado resident throws away nearly 8 pounds of trash per day or more than 1.45 tons per year.
While Colorado is still lagging behind the national average a bit, they have improved and the goal is to hit 28% by 2021. Ideal Comfort HVAC is doing our part in Johnstown and surrounding areas to move to be as paperless as possible, with more changes coming in the future.
RECYCLE SCRAP HVAC UNITS
Old HVAC units can be broken down to their original aluminum, tine, copper, and electronic motor components which can then be recycled. We always take all of the old scrap HVAC units to be fully recycled.
OFFER EFFICIENT MODELS – GREEN HVAC TECHNOLOGY
While we will always service and repair any make or model of Johnstown HVAC equipment you might have, when offering new equipment to do an AC or furnace replacement, or installing HVAC in a new home, we offer extremely energy-efficient models.
- Daikin Inverter Technology – This technology is similar to using the cruise control in your car for gas savings. If we compare non-inverter and inverter technology using estimated yearly operating costs we can see the difference easily, with an average of around 34% savings. Less energy use is better for the environment.
Standard (16 SEER) Single Stage Non-Inverter systems cost approximately $799 in operation each yearA Premium (18 SEER) Inverter system costs approximately $534 to operate each year.
VRV Life – VRV Life Systems by Daikin are able to heat and cool up to 8 separate rooms off the same HVAC unit. This means that you can choose to make each room the perfect temperature, while not overheating or cooling rooms that don’t need it. This can drastically reduce the amount of energy needed to heat or cool your home or business.
JOINING GREEN BUSINESS NETWORKS
Ideal Comfort HVAC is working on partnering with local and national green business networks to help support the going green movement as well as showing our passion for improving the environment. We want to be known as a leader in green HVAC companies in Johnstown, Loveland, Greeley and surrounding Northern Colorado area. More information to come!
